Hello and happy Tuesday! It’s almost Christmas! Thus, I have a special feature for you to help create the atmosphere of Christmas celebrations. Stovetop potpourri is a natural way to help fragrance your home without concern for harsh chemicals. To make this Christmas stovetop potpourri you need a few common ingredients; some you may already have in your home.
I like to make enough stovetop potpourri to use in my home plus more to share. However many oranges you have will determine how many “kits” you can make. Per one orange, I used about 3 ounces of fresh cranberries, 2-3 cinnamon sticks, 2-3 sprigs of fresh rosemary (you can also use fresh conifer [pine, spruce, or fir] sprigs), 1 tsp ground allspice, and 1 tsp whole cloves.
Into a small cellophane bag, place the spices, rosemary, cranberries, and orange. Close the bag with a twist-tie. Save for later or give as a gift!
When you’re ready to use the stovetop potpourri, slice the orange and place all ingredients into a small pot. Add 2-3 cups of filtered water and turn the burner to low. If the water level gets low, add more water.
After a day or two of simmering and adding water it will be time to throw away the old stovetop potpourri and make a fresh pot. I hope you enjoy!
