Product Review: Daiya Deluxe Mac & Cheeze

Hello and happy Tuesday! Welcome to another gluten-free product review. Today’s feature is Daiya brand’s Deluxe Mac & Cheeze Four Cheeze Style with Herbs.

This boxed mac and cheeze is gluten and dairy-free and easy to prepare. The instructions are clear and concise. Simply cook the pasta according to the instructions and combine the pasta and cheeze sauce back in the saucepan and enjoy warm.

The main question regarding dairy-free mac and cheeze is “how does it taste?” I have a couple perspectives to add to this.

First, I have been dairy-free for a while and don’t remember the taste of dairy cheese, so to me, Daiya’s mac and cheeze is surprisingly flavorful, smooth, and delightfully tasty. The seasoning in the cheeze is delicious and has hints of garlic and dried parsley. The shell pasta cooks to al dente in a few minutes; like most gluten-free pasta, it is recommended to be eaten the day it’s made as it does tend to break apart when re-heated.

My husband (who isn’t dairy-free) reported it tastes slightly sour, as a lot of dairy-free cheeze sauce does. However, this is often to be expected when someone who eats dairy taste-tests a dairy-free product.

Overall, this is a product I would recommend for a gluten and dairy-free diet. The flavors are surprising good and enjoyable. I hope this review assists you in your decision-making in pursuit of gluten and dairy-free food products at the grocery store.
