Celiac-Safe Travel: Red Robin

2 min reading time

Hello and happy Wednesday! Welcome to another Celiac-safe travel review. Today’s spotlight is on Red Robin. While I don’t often write reviews of chain restaurants, I wanted to make an exception this time due to how impressed I was by the interactive digital menu that can be tailored to specific to be free of specific allergens and by the gluten-free food.

The menu can be accessed by scanning the QR code on the physical menu or by using the tabletop touchscreen device. You can check off which allergens/ingredients you need to avoid and the menu will show you what food you must avoid and what food can be modified to accommodate your needs.

Red Robin specializes in burgers and other American cuisine. There are two sizes of burgers available: “small” Tavern burgers and “regular” burgers. I ordered the Pig Out Double Tavern Burger and subbed a gluten-free bun and got coleslaw as my side. The fries are NOT safe for Celiac as they are fried in a shared fryer.

The gluten-free bun was marked with a purple flag to indicate that it’s gluten-free. The gluten-free bun was so delicious, it didn’t crumble, crack, or crumb everywhere; it was supple and had the perfect moisture level and spring. I even questioned the waitress because the bun was so good! I highly recommend trying Red Robin out if you are craving a burger.

I hope this review helps you make informed decisions when looking for an establishment to patron. Always do your research when looking for somewhere to eat out; maintaining a lifetime of adherence to a strict gluten-free diet is important to your health if you have Celiac Disease. But also don’t forget: going out to eat with your loved ones is also good for your health. Sharing a meal and quality time together is important. Take precautions and make informed, purposeful decisions and enjoy living your life. You can always count on my reviews to be honest and thoroughly researched.
